Pain is Inevitable; Suffering is Optional. A man who embodied this notion is Dr. Viktor Frankl, as a prisoner in the Nazi concentration camps of World War II his mother, father, brother, and pregnant wife were all killed in the camps. As a Holocaust Survivor he was not only aware that suffering is optional but that choosing suffering would be the kiss of death.
Today in 2017, we have other circumstances that can cause suffering in our lives and in the lives of those we love; like Dr. Frankl we can take steps to unhook ourselves from suffering and be the light. “What is to give light must endure burning.” ~ Viktor Frankl
