Elevate Your Financial Health: Leverage Your Ultimate Resource
Welcome to the Vibrant Living with Nousha blog. I’m Nousha, super excited to be on this journey of learning, growth and healing with you. This blog is designed to inspire, educate and encourage you or someone you know to live a more vibrant, fulfilling life.
In the January 2017 blog I share the five pillars of optimum health and how we need to nourish, protect and renew each pillar so they can work harmoniously to create optimum health. Today, I’ll dive deeper into the pillar of our financial health and share my story of discovering our ultimate resource, why now is the best time to be alive and 3 Steps you (or someone you know) can take to leverage it.
I had the opportunity to meet Tony Robbins in person and one of the things he shared was “our ultimate resource is resourcefulness”. In my personal experience, I see the ultimate resource, our ultimate resource, is ourselves.
Yes, YOU; you are the ultimate resource, yours skills, abilities, talents and purpose are the ultimate resource.
Why are your unique skills, abilities, talents and passions important to leverage now? As we see entire industries disappearing overnight (like Blockbusters) we need to be prepared to change jobs and even shift careers more than once in our lifetimes.
Having said that, right now, we are alive and living in one of the most exciting times in history. What do I mean?
Well, as I was completing my Masters Degree at Royal Roads University I stumbled upon a paper written by the Nomura Institute of Japan, that classified four eras of economic activity.
1. Agricultural
2. Industrial
3. Informational... and now through the evolution of technology...
4. Creative - constant innovation
Daniel Pink echoes these four eras in “A Whole New Mind” (2005) and defines economic development as:
1. Agricultural Age (farmers)
2. Industrial Age (factory workers)
3. Information Age (knowledge workers)
4. Conceptual Age (creators and empathizers)
Pink says, logical and precise left-brain thinking gave us the Information Age; now, in the Conceptual Age - it’s ruled by creativity, empathy and emotion.
What does this mean for future jobs? It means we have the opportunity to strengthen our creative muscle to leverage our unique gifts, skills and talents, aligning with our purpose and serving the world in our own unique way for a profit.
This is super exciting because our natural tendency is to be creative and shine our unique light; however, many of us have learned habits, thoughts and behaviours that dim our light and our full creative self expression. Baby Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y can learn from Millennials who are leading the way in shining their unique light, being creative and fully self expressed in a variety of different ways, particularly as entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs and on social media.
Having said that, I know many Baby Boomers, Gen Xers and Gen Ys that are on the track of shining their unique light in creative and innovative ways that add value to a market place that is willing to pay for their products and services - Congratulations! - keep up the great work shining your unique light friends! As one of my mentors, Marie Forleo shares: “The world needs that special gift that only, you have.”
If you are inspired by this path, yet unfamiliar with it; here are 3 Steps You Can Take to Leverage It:
Step 1- Define what you’re passionate about.
Invest some time to reflect on what you’re passionate about. What do you love to do? If time and money were in abundant supply, how would you serve?
Step 2 - Find a system to turn your passion into a profit so you can receive rewards for your efforts.
Invest some time to do your research in your area of passion and locate a system that can support you. If you need support with this, let me know; I’m happy to support you and connect you to a variety of resources.
Step 3 - Research systems that you find and choose one that is proven to work and is also profitable.
Invest some time to examine the business systems you have found and look at their profitability track record. If you need support with this, let me know; I’ve been exposed to a variety of different business models that work.
These are the steps I took to leverage my skills, talents, abilities and passions turning them into profits. As I reflect back, my passions were (and still are) in the areas of health, wellness, beauty, fitness and leadership.
